If so, you can always do two things: you can use Google - groups -
advanced search - 'show only messages from these groups' and look.
Once you have confirmed that there were messages posted, you can try to
unsubscribe the group in your newsreader, and then re-subscribe it.
It sometimes happens that newsservers renumber/reindex the messages in a
group and then, because the new numbers are lower than the old ones,
your client will not download/show any new messages in that group.
There has been a slow but steady amount of traffic in alt.games.civ3
over the last weeks, b.t.w.

There is usually a "Get All Headers" near the "Get New Headers". That
should also fix the indexing problem and keep your existing messages.
