Windows is giving me messages about lack of virtual memory and is running horribly slow. It started after we blew a fuse in our house, even though it's plugged into a surge protector. Defrag didnt help. It crashed while I was in the middle of playing a high-end game which used around 115 Megs of system memory, maybe that has something to do with it. Any ideas how to help?

You probably need to adjust the size of your paging file. I'm not in front of an xp machine right now so I can't remember exactly where it is but try this anyway. go to start>control panel>system. In here you should see two rows of tabs on the top of the page. I don't remember which tab you need to go to but check all of them and look for something that reads virtual memory or swap file etc. Post back with the readings in that area and someone should be able to tell you what the correct setting is.
