ABIT BH6, PIII800, Win2K

Hi All,
Upgrade question please:
I have an ABIT BH6 mobo (flashed to BIOS SS), PIII800, 512MB RAM, and Win98Me. I want to upgrade to Win2K.
I use PC for video editing using Matrox RT2000/Adobe Premiere 6.0.
Will this mobo handle Win2K?

I have run win98se, w2k prof, w2k server, and am now running win2k advanced server on an abit bh6 with a celeron 333, but I also have 192MB of ram. Get the ram up to 128 and it'll run fine. I play UT and Wolfenstein on it with a voodoo3 3000 and am keep up with most of my friends.

Your motherboard is quite possibly of higher quality than any Athlon or P4 motherboard ever made. It's BX chipset is the most stable, compatable in the world. All the drivers are built into every OS since the first release of Win98. And to top it off, you have a fast enough CPU and enough RAM to make it work. I don't know why anyone with such a stable board would want Win2k, when 98SE seems to be stable for weeks or even months (with the prolonged operation update) in most comparable systems, unless your cards or programs need Win2k to run.

Win2k is a lot more stable than Windows 98. I have an Abit BX6 for almost 3 years. My system is a lot more stable with Windows 2000.

I never had a stability problem on my BX board. My i815E was also super-stable untill I started screwing around with drivers, etc.

My BX board are very stable but Windows 98 is not. Windows 98 is not as stable as Windows 2000 especially when you are running a lot of programs at same time.

My opion is just the opposite. I think you should use Windows 2000 unless you have old cards or programs that needs windows 98.

I have a memory manager running on mine that cured most of the problems with used up ram running too many programs for too many days.

I have a BH6 with a PIII 1Ghz and W2000.
It works fine, Go on it.

Wow, I wish I knew back when that I could put a 1000MHz on it. I thought I was doing good going to 800MHz, when ABIT says supported to 600MHz.
