VIA - PCI LATENCY

Hi All, After having shitloads of problems doing video capture with a new IWILL DVD266u-RN mobo, I uncovered the cuplrit, the via chipset has a PCI latency fault which allows pci bursts to occur too often but with not enough time to allow complete data transfers. But, an enterprising individual has already found out about this and has developed a patch that resets the chipset to a more realistic setting. Viola - no more problems, an increase of some 15% in data throughput to the drives, and the Matrox RT2500 board is now happy. Do the web search for VIA PCI LATENCY PATCH, and see for yourself.

Best Regards

Oz.

Yes, that is just one of the many issues with the VIA chipset.
Some of the patches for these VIA bugs have been made by thrid-parties rather than VIA themselves!!!....kind of makes you question VIA's product quality as well as support.
