Raid question (MSI 845 Ultra-ARU)

If you get a Raid capable mb , do you have to use the raid option ? Can you set it up normally ?

Want to know because the MB I want (MSI 845 Ultra-ARU) has Usb 2.0 & the only way I can get the USB 2.0 , is if I buy the MB with the Raid option .
The MSI 845 Ultra-C without Raid only has Usb 1.1
