Windows 7 problems with internet

About half the time, when starting 64-bit Windows 7, it fails to connect to the Internet. I then restart Windows and most of the time it will connect.
Windows XP, 32-bit, never had this problem. Is there an intermittent problem with 64-bit Windows 7 using what must be a 32-bit DSL modem driver?

  1. see if you can find a 64 bit driver for your network adapter
  2. The driver is automatically supplied by Windows 7. When I tried the driver supplied by NVIDIA, it did not work at all.

    I have had some luck by turning off the IPv6 option for the network adapter.
    Now connection only fails one in four times instead of one in two.
