I'm lost and am turning to the experts. Could this be a bios problem???? In the process of fixing a video problem of random lockups I managed to lose the sound. I get an error that no audio hardware is available. I have changed every cards slot and reinstalled and updated the drivers yet the device manager shows all hardware working properly.
I tried a new sound card, AWE 64 Soundblaster, which the computer found and installed the drivers, control panel show no conflicts yet still no sound and when running a .wav file gives the error "no audio hardware is available or it is not responding".
Well it could be a bios problem if you have onboard sound and it was dissabled in bios. What is the original sound card and what other cards do you have. Incidently , I have a AWE 64 isa card and they are the worst cards to install driver wise. Do try any other card to test your sys for audio.
