i used to be able to receive files through windows messenger but now they are
blocked, not sure whether by the xp firewall or my network firewall.

How do i find out and how should i setup the firewall to allow files only
from my personal contact list

thanks

is there anything you can still do in Messenger ?
can you send files ? can you text chat ? can you have voice conversations
?
are you logged in using Administrator privileges or logged in using a
Limited Account ?

is this your network firewall, or is this a company firewall ?
can you try receiving without going through the network firewall (either by
removing the router/gateway, or by using a dial-up connection), while
keeping your XP firewall enabled ?

I also am having trouble sending files to my father. We both are the sole
users of our machines. I had him disable Norton's firewall and the file was
still blocked. Help!
