Did you turn it on when it was screwed in? Then it might be busted, but only one way to find out: test it.

If you got lucky the protection in the PS kicked in and you can't reboot for a minute or two. Fix it and try again.
If screwed then just take it back to the store and tell them it doesn't work. No details or they might give you the "funny" look.
