Whistling audio

I had it in 6.2 and I still have it in 7 - Whenever I use Audio with
a friend we have to endure constant whistling. We have tried a few
things to reduce it... Volume etc - to no avail.
We have tried altering the position of our webcams - we have tried
using earphone and mike combinations
Is there anything else we can do to make the MSN Messenger thing a joy
instead of an assult on the ear?
We are both using Windows XP with SP2 (It did it with SP1) and using
Logitech Quick Cam Messenger with built in Mike.
Thanks in advance.
David
