I can't get messenger (4.7.3000) to sign in automatically. Messenger loads
when widows xp starts but won't sign in. When I right click the icon and
select sign in it brings up the sign on window and I must enter the password
every time even though I tick the box (sign me in automatically) every time.

I have messenger installed on 3 other PCs at home and they all work
perfectly but not this one.

Also if I run the wizard to associate a user with this .net passport it runs
through the wizard ok but doesn't assoicate it. (The option in user accounts
should change from 'set up my account to use a .net passport' to 'change my
..net passport')

Any help would be appreciated

To answer my own question -

After mucking around all day with router settings, windows settings, camera
settings and windows messenger settings, I found a round about solution -
Install MSN Messenger 7.0, video conferencing worked straight away without
any problems. Still don't know why Windows Messenger doesn't work but don't
realy care now.
