I am having a weird problem with my newly installed DI-624 wireless
router.

I have my main desktop computer, Tivo, and Vonage Broadband Phone
plugged directly into the router, and my laptop is using a wireless
card.

Throughout the day, I have no problems using any device. At
approximately 10pm however, while I am using my desktop, the pop-up
comes up that my network cord has become unplugged, and then 1 second
later, it tells me that I am connected again. This happens every few
minutes. It disconnects my MSN Instant Messenger and I have to
reconnect to it every time.

It appears that my router is 'resetting' itself every few minutes.

If I turn off the wireless radio, the problem goes away. I have tried
various settings on the wireless - from turning off the broadcast of
the SSID to various encryption settings, to no avail. I've unplugged
all appliances off, leaving only my desktop, and it still happens.
The only thing that works is turning off the wireless altogether,
which is not an option as it is how I am using my laptop.

This doesn't happen during the day! Strange!!!

Anyone have this happen? Any ideas??

Mucho thanks!

It sounds to me like you're using XP with the Wireless Zero Configuration
Service that's dropping the connection as it seeks out other networks in
the area and tries to connect to them. That's if you're using XP.

I found out the problem after holding on the phone to DLink support.
It is my cordless phone, which runs on 2.4mhz as well. I'm using
Vonage, which is plugged directly into the router, but my phone system
throughout the house is via cordless phones (since Vonage renders your
existing phone wiring useless).

The solution is to either change my phones to another frequency (ie,
buy a new phone system that runs on 900 or the new 5.8 mhz) OR change
my router to run 802.11a - which is not an option with the version I
have.

So here I go phone shopping....... :)

Thanks for the help!

One last followup -

I was able to change the channel of my router (from 6 to 1), which
allowed me to keep my existing phone setup. It has run for 2 nights
now without one hitch!
