sound problem K7S5A - Sb Live!

Almost every game crashes (not in the menu, in the game) immediately. The sound hangs (very sharp, unnatural) and i have to reboot. Now i use a Creative Live. Before i used a Creative Ensoniq pci but then the pc didn't boot up at all (gave some beeps). Onboard sound is disabled. Updates didn't help.

does anybody have an idea of whats going wrong?

What other PCI card do you have? Did you try to switch to a different PCI slot?

Any resourse conflicts or sharing with the said card?
