my uni is a member of the msdn academic alliance and I noticed that Windos 7 professional (both x86 and x64) is available for download from here:

http://msdn62.e-academy.com/elms/Storefront/ViewProductDetails.aspx?campus=msdnaa_vw1297&np1=112&p=1718

(You need a logon, which I have being a member of my uni)

Is this the full release version that is being released to the public in October or is it just another testing build?

Because it seems pretty good getting it for free before it's even released!

It's real but with this restriction
Q: Does the license (or "key" ) permanently unlock the software?
A: No - the key allows you to install the software once. If you need to re-install the software, you will need to contact the PA (Program Administrator) at your school. Your PA's contact email information can be found in the support page. To view this information, please click on the Support button above.

You can get the Windows 7 Professional upgrade for $30 if you have a university email address here:

http://windows7.digitalriver.com

It is the same cost for the Home Premium and Professional, so make sure to look for the "Need to join your school's network domain? Click here" to get the Pro version.

It will be the full version, but in download form (you have to burn it to a DVD). The key is sent through email.
