Wnen I highlight text it will not stay highlighted

When I highlight text in any program as soon as I move the mouse away the highlight goes off and I then can not alter any of the text

Yes that is what happens

See if the computer is stuttering or hanging a bit by releasing the button but dont move the mouse for a minute or so. then move it. does the highlite still go away.
If it doesn't go away now its a mouse,keyboard,usb driver issue most likely.
If it still goes away something in windows insatlled wrong or got messed up.
