sort of newbie question

Hello.

I recently got ECS K7VTA3 with 1.2 Duron. MB has a jumper on it to switch bus speed from 100 to 133. I decided rather then dig through usenet i will ask here what does it actually do and can I set to to 133Mhz.

its dangerous to set the FSB directly to 133 MHz.

your Duron 1.2 GHz is running at 100 MHz FSB multiplied by 12. If you set it to 133, it would run at 1.6 GHz which would be too big a leap! Although you can overclock the processor to small to big increase in speeds, 12->1.6 isnt recommended at all.
if you buy a Athlon or AthlonXP that actually runs at 133 MHz FSB, only then you can use this jumper because the processor is rated to run at the at speed. Certainly not the one you have!
