i am in the market for a new p-4 board and a 1.8 cpu.

i am thinking of going with a board that will support my pc-133 memory due to i dont have any extra cash to buy more memory.

i have looked at the abit BL7, and the asus P4B which both use the i845 chipset.

is there a faster or better board out there using another chipset like via or sis?

There is another chipset which theoretically supports SDR SDRAM - the VIA P4X266 but the only board out there (the Shuttle AV40) is using DDR. So the only chipset out there for you would be the original i845.

It's always the one thing you never suspected.

the sis645 chip w/ ddr ram is actually about the same price as the i845D chip....just FYI.
if you are going to look into the sis645 chip here's something to read about 3 different sis645 boards.
