I have a Windows 7 Home Premium computer. Last night, I installed a printer driver update for my printer from HP. My computer regularly turned off. Then, when I turned it back on, the boot screen came up, loaded, and then came a black screen. I've waited about a couple minutes to see if something would load but still, just a black screen. I've tried safe mode, which I couldn't even access, and restoring defaults on the BIOS menu. What happened to my computer and what can I do to fix it? Thank you. I appreciate it greatly.

What do you mean you could not access safe mode? Please clarify.

Did you press F8 during bootup to show the option to boot to safe mode?

I have had HP drivers mess with my startup before too. Try shutting off/unplugging the printer, if you haven't already. As rwpritchett said, tap F8 repeatedly after the computer POSTs to enter safe mode. If that fails, insert the Windows 7 install disk and run from that. You may be able to restore to the point before you installed the HP driver.
