I need your help. I have a new Soltek SL75DRV2 with
512MB DDR, running on an 1500xp(not overclocked) with
Asus 7700 Deluxe and a Soundblaster x-Gamer. I am running
Windows Millenium. Now Millenium had been fine, the Motherboard, memory and 1500xp are new. All other boards had been previously installed and running well on my
CUSL2-C with Pent III 933mhz and 258mb Sdram.

I have two problems. Half the time at boot up the Bios
does not detect my cd-rom which is a samsung (works fine) I have changed which IDE it is plugged into and the IDE cable as well. Bios still fails half the time.

2nd Problem, whether I boot with the cd-rom detected or not
windows halts totally and says there is an error with
the device VCOMM. What is VCOMM? I have disabled the
onboard audio, modem, virus protection. I am at a loss
as to what the real problem is. Help Please!!!!

This sounds similar to the problem I am having, however, the problem I have is with a Quantum AS 40GB drive not detected at startup. I have a 400W power supply and have the most recent BIOS version for the Soltek SL-75DRV2.
