Funky display of text after upgrade

I recently upgraded my system with an ECS K7S5A and Athlon XP1600. I have had no problems except: at various times with various apps, the text displays incompletely -- that is, pieces of letters are missing. See this location for an example: http://ericandlorre.com/eric/funky_text

The pic is a bit fuzzy, but you can see it is not just the browser window -- note that the word View on the menubar is missing some pixels and even the labels on desktop icons are sometimes affected -- but always text only.

I did not upgrade to DDR, I am using generic 256MB PC133 SDRAM. Could this be the problem? I have verified that temp is not a factor, and the problem happens anytime, reboot has no effect. Here is my setup:

ECS K7S5A mainboard
Atlon XP 1600
Generic 256MB PC133
Diamond Viper II 32MB video
Seagate BaracudaII 30Gig 7200rpm HD

Has anyone seen anything like this before? Thanks.

Forgot to mention that when I click on the text, minimize/maximize, etc. this sometimes fixes it, while scrolling can make it worse. Thanks.
