I'm planning to try putting a Celeron 533 in a Sony VAIO model PCV-E203 desktop. The VAIO was bought a few years ago and came with a cacheless Celeron 300; that was the mid-level processor, the fastest available having been a PII333.

What I'm wondering is whether anyone knows how fast a Celeron that board will support. I haven't found anything saying that 333MHz is the upper limit for the motherboard, but before I order a PPGA-->slot-1 converter and travel to do the job, I'm hoping someone knows what chance I stand of it working.

If I can supply any further info to help someone answer, I'll be glad to, 'cause I'd really love to get to the bottom of this. Sony's site has been no help at all.

Thanks!!

The 533 was available in TWO varieties, the PPGA and FC-PGA which were BOTH socket 370. The older PPGA version is almost garunteed to work.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?
