I feel like im the only one that is having a problem with this board.. What a night mare!!

I have a ECS K7S5a motherboard with a 1700+XP processor. 512Meg DDRam, Nvida G3TI card, Soundblaster live..
AMI BioS 62-1215-001131-00101111-SIS735-040201

Freshly installed Win2k Pro ..

Everything seemed ok until i tried to plugged in a Butterfly Media SmartMedia USB reader. The Usb driver never
installed and required rebooting.. I never got it to work.

After visiting USBMAN and trying all the solitions for the sis735 chipset stuff. I figured out it was was likely the fact that the USB, Soundcard, and the Nvida g3 Card were all on IRQ 11. !.

Try that i may I could not get this to stop. I noticed that the Bios was bringing the USB up on 12 but Win2k was moving it. :(

I turned off APSI(powermanagement) and had to reinstalled win2k..

GOod new USB works now. but the pc does not want to shut down anymore without a Hard Power off (switch in back). I can not live with this.

PLEASE HELP ME.

Ideas I have
1) try XP. >:p
2) trade board for a 1900xp IWIN XP333 mother board?
3) update AMI bios (having trouble getting flash programmer for this)
..

HELP PLEASE

If I'm right you can change some options under the Win2000 powersettings to let it shutdown even if ACPI is disabled.

My case has so many fans that it hovers above the ground  .
