I have an Asus A7V133 motherboard and have been told that with a BIOS upgrade I can upgrade to an AMD XP1700 chip however there have problems with this upgrade. Any others out there who have had problems with this configuration?

I did a search and see what you mean. You need version 1007 and it appears that it is recommended for A7V133 rev 1.05 motherboards or later. I'm still looking if people are having trouble with this. So far I have found a few posts of people with problems...still looking though for possible solutions.

Oh wait...I believe the 1008 BIOS is for A7V, not A7V133.

Here's <A HREF="http://www.amdmb.com/files/asus/a7v133/1007_01f.zip" target="_new"> BIOS 1007_01F</A> for the A7V133.

Hey I found a really good link for you that shows what motherboards from the A7V series support the Athlon XP.

Open up your chassis and look b/w the PCI slots for your motherboard revision. Then go the link below and check for compatibility.

Good luck!
