Is there any way I can configure remote desktop to log on to one of the pc's on our network without logging the user off / ending his session?

Not full stop, XP's remote desktop is a support utility only, MS don't want 2 people to use 1 copy of XP because of licensing, if you want to do something like this you will need 2K server, if you then use remote administration mode you will not need to buy any client access lisences (as long as only the administrator is using it...)

if you want to application serve to multiple people (not just remote admin) you should in theory bite the bullit and pay MS for a client access license...

With 100 Million neurons in the brain vouching for it, it can't be wrong...

yes, xps built in terminal server is designed for support, but it will allow two or more users to be logged into the computer at one time, remotely or not. i think this person is talking about end user systems, not servers. cs game server -
now featuring (optional) cheating death!
