WEP losing connection (Belkin ADSL/11g/Vaio z1RMP)

Got the above and and a Sony Vaio Z1RMP and get great results when WEP
is disabled but get intermittant problems when WEP is enabled.

Basically, all will be fine for a while and then if there's a loss in
connection or the Vaio gets turned off, I cannot resestablish the
connection. The Vaio will not be able to see the modem ever again.

The only way I can resestablish connection is to connect the Vaio up
physically, disable and then reenable WEP. Obviously, this is a total
pain, and involves many flights of stairs and crawling under tables to
fix.

Any ideas what's going on and how to fix?
