nic not working

hi im new to linux. i have a problem with my nic. eveytime i power on my box i have to reload the nic driver. i can seem to figure out how to keep it when i power down and up my box. has anyone had this problem? i have a p4c800 asus board with a nic on it. its starting to irk me that each time i have to re make/ re install the drivers. any help would be great.

Find the file

/etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.x (probably 2.4, but maybe 2.6 depending on your kernel version). Add the driver name to it.
