Installing from Image?

If I mounted the installation image to my pc and had no optical drive, I would be able to just install windows 7 just by running the installer while XP is on? I'm asking because I can't boot from anything on this pc that has windows 7.

It can but I don't have USB that can hold that much.

You can't run the Win7 installer from XP. Need to boot from the media.
