Athlon XP1600+ and GA7VTXH

I have an Athlon XP 1600+ running XP Professional using a Gigabyte GA-7VTXH motherboard running the latest bios revision. The problem is have is that the system reports that it is just an Athlon processor and it only runs at ~1050MHz. Is anyone familiar with this and whether I have to do anything to get the full performance from the chip?

Did you change FSB from 200 to 266 on MB?

You FSB is probably set to 100 (200) MHz, set it to 133 (266) MHz.

My case has so many fans that it hovers above the ground .

No I haven't, I'm pretty much a novice at the hardware level of things, how can it be done?

Check your manual, probably inside your BIOS or with some jumpers on the motherboard.
