Whenever I play an AVI with the ac3 codec, the sound plays for about 5 minutes and then cuts out, if I restart the movie again at that point, I have sound, then 5 minutes later it cuts out again. his happens through windows media player 9 but all other types of movies play fine.
playing a DVD it wouldn't default to AC3 however since the AC3 stream was available it would dedicate the AC3 codec as the decoder of it. the issue with this is it wouldn't decode 2 channel streams. so basicly i needed to change the language to AC3
is it the newest AC3 filter from sourceforge??
and what media player are you using. i use Zoomplayer, i think you need to have PowerDVD or winDVD installed (i think) however since its an AVI i don't know if you do.
anyway have a good one and good luck.

Oh well, I thought it was solved but wasn't...I still have a movie that keeps kicking out the sound every 5 minutes or so. I might wait until i pick up a new SATA drive and then just re install.
