hpw much power does a PC use?

How many watts are actually used in a pc? A thread over at Anandtech didnt give an answer. SO i found an article on the subject. The sytem specs are old, but give a rough idea.

Many sites put peak power consumption around 200 watts. The above link was the only one that actaully measured anything though. Most others just give a formula. Anyone else find links or have a clue what modern PC's consume?

  2. Yeah, I have seen that site. But as far as I can tell there was no actual measuring invovled. They, like many others, give a formula. I am curious to see how much my PC affects my electric bill.

  4. Hmmm... I've often wondered as well. I'll dig out my Fluke clamp meter and get back to you.

  7. Thanks for the input, but knowing just the processor wattage doesnt help. The mobo, pci cards, video card etc all use power too.
As for turning my PC off for a month, ARE YOU INSANE. I couldnt go a month without it. I would shrivel up and die (or something like that). Its like silicon crack.
