IDE driver messed up with I installed a new Intel

I guess I did something stupid. I was on Microsoft Update a couple days ago and it found a new device driver for my system for the IDE controller or something similar.

I should mention I have the ECS K7VTA3 with the VIA KT266A Chipset. Do I have and Intel chips on that board?

Anyway my hardware profile looks different now. Now says:

!Primary IDE controller (FIFO)
!Secondary IDE controller (FIFO)
Ultra ATA controller

for the disk drives.

As you can see from the ! I am having some hardware conflicts. It says that my devices are not compatible with the current drivers and that performance might suffer.

Well fortunately my hard drive still works so I can use my computer (although I'm on a school computer right now), but it no longer recognizes my somewhat outdated cdrom drive. Yeah I know I need a burner anyway, but for the time being I want to get my old cdrom working again.

The new driver might actually be better, but for now I need to support my old hardware so I might have to look for different drviers because I deleted it in Hardware profiles and it just installed the same new ones.

But maybe when I upgrade CD and HD I'll install these again because it might be better right?

Re-install the 4in1 drivers. For the latest 4in1 click here:http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=2#4in1

I can't think of a good signature so I'll use this one.

If you are with WinXP, just do a roll back to your older drivers.

And no, dont install those drivers for Intel chipset to a VIA chipset system..

-Always put the blame on you first, then on the hardware !!!
