Understanding FSB

Last response: in Motherboards
Share

I am looking for a MOBO/CPU combo and I'm not sure if I should get the 200 or 266 FSB. Can someone help me understand the difference in between the two (or point me in the right direction) ? So I can decide wich is better for me. I am looking at an ECS K7VZA MOBO & a TB 1.4 GHz(the price is in my range and it was recomended by Tomshardware.)

The 266MHz version runs at 133 actual MHZ and has much faster CPU-to-memory transfers for increased performance. If you want an ECS board, I recommend the K7S5A with some PC2100 DDR (which runs at DDR266, which is actually 133MHz).

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

If you do choice the ECS board mentioned above, make sure that you get a name brand 350 W powersupply (from Antec, Sparkle, Enermax) and that you only by memory that the manufacturer recommends. You can find that, and other info about the board @ ECS's website or here.

If it works for you then don't fix it.
