I just upgraded my friend's computer. Here is the configuration:
Soyo Dragon Plus
Duron 1.2GHz
Geforce 256 DDR
Western Digital 15GB HD
Compaq 6x DVD Rom
Iomega 100MB IDE Zip
Onboard Sound
Onbaord LAN
Windows XP Pro
250W PS
Here is other info:
The Hard drive is the Primary Master
The DVD ROM is the secondary master and the Zip is a secondary slave
The BIOS settings are set to defaults.

Now, here is my problem. Everytime the computer is turned on it posts fine. When windows starts loading it always locks up. The screen says loading and I watch the blue bars goeing across the screen. The loading lines pass twice and then it freezes. If I start the comp in safe mode the restart it starts fine. If I restart the computer anytime it works fine. If I bring it out of stand by or hibernation it works fine. It only has problme on cold boots.

Here are the things i've tried:
Uninstalling the video card drivers and disabling the card in hardware profiles.
Disabling the onbaord lan and sound
Reformat/Renistall Windows

I've been to numerous sites reading through posts with similar problems, but no one has a solution. I would appreciate any suggestions.

maybe the PS. 250W is definitively too weak, especialy if it it old. Try to save the BIOS the second time it works fine. I mean, when you know that it will restart fine, go in the BIOS and save it as it is. Or, if you havent do a clean install, you may have a drivers issue. Backup the data and clean install the OS.
