LoL, I just read your post again and saw that you can't order anythng online, which makes my entire post pointless. Oh well, I tried. :0

You can find the Soyo for $139 <A HREF="http://pcworld.pricegrabber.com/search_attrib.php/page_id=40/ut=3f3265b0124cf7b0/" target="_new">here</A>

You can find an Athlon XP 1700+ <A HREF="http://www.allstarshop.com/shop/shop.asp?sid=H20DQ9UDPNVJ8HJ7RDNSAF5FCG7G3NU3" target="_new">here</A> (I suggest getting the processor oem because it's cheaper, which gives you more money to buy a better cooling system for it.)

You can buy 256mb of DDR Pc2100 Crucial ram <A HREF="http://www.crucial.com/store/listmfgr.asp?CATEGORY=2Motherboards+&+RAID+Cards" target="_new">here</A> (I recommend crucial, they have free Fedex 2nd day shipping and I've heard nothing but good things about them.)

You can find a 40g 7200rpm hd <A HREF="http://pcworld.pricegrabber.com/search_prodsummary.php/masterid=511517/ut=3f3265b0124cf7b0/" target="_new">here</A>

And...wew, I'm tired of making all these links, find the rest <A HREF="http://www.pricewatch.com/" target="_new">here</A>

$1,000 is more than enough for the system you want. 600 would suffice. <P ID="edit"><FONT SIZE=-1><EM>Edited by Octivus on 02/28/02 01:05 AM.</EM></FONT></P>

Find someone with a credit card, have them order the parts, and you pay them with cash in person. Make sure it's someone you can trust though.

Ask someone locally you can rely on and find an independent computer
store that would order for you. Sometimes you can get quality
hardware and still beat the big retailers price.
