help can't load os

Please help, i have an asustek a7v266-e mobo and amd athlon 1600xp proc,western digital hd.My problem is i can't load window on the hard drive without geting constant general protection faults.fdisk,format,scandisk the Hard Drive,and i still can't get windows to load.

BTW which OS u use?
basically reformat, re-partition and do a fresh-install of your OS. this usually works.

Where do you have the HD installed (Primary/Secondary IDE or Promise controllers)? I have had the exact same problem using the Raid controllers (with the board set to ATA100). After trying everything I (and tech support) could think of, the reseller is replacing the board.
