I've run into the same problem as a lot of people it seems
pc133 128 meg sdram and the MB boots fine
128 megs DDR boots fine
256 DDR no POST no Beeps no nothing
And I tried the ram in another MB by ECA the k7ama and it went beep crazy, so it may just be my Ram but after reading most of this it doesn't seem too promising.

Using a 350w PS and I tried a Bare (I mean bare) boot, with just a vid card and ram and nothing came on screen(not even in the case incase something was making contacts for the MB0

did you update the bios?
and what revision is your board?
check the white sticker near the pci slots.

yeah, mine has the xp sticker too, but what does the white sticker next to the pci slots say?
because the revision 4 boards have problems...
mine is a revision 5. but i had a revision 3, which worked fine until the onboard lan stopped working...and then i had a revision 4 that worked fine, until i thought that i fried it, but turned out i didnt, but i got a different one anyway...so i have a revision 5.
i have ddr...
another thing to check is the bios...
make sure that the power supply is putting out the correct ammount of volts on the different lines.
like 12v is supposed to be 12v.
also, check out the forums at http://www.ocworkbench.com
i know that they have a lot of fixes and such for this board...and some people have fixed their computer from help there.
and i am sure that this problem has been looked at there.

well everything works with
128 DDR
128 SD
just the 256 meg DDR stick doesn't work :|
and post on OCworkbench and here are all 256+ megs of DDR and some are just SD but most are 256+ ddr.
Hopefull it's bad ram
otherwise i'll demand another Rev of the mb or a diff MB. :)

might be bad ram!
or a crappy power supply.
what brand is it?
also, you might want to take your motherboard and ram to the computer store when you go, and have them test everything.

Forget the name of the PS but it's not generic and has a P4 approved sticker on it. and I order online ehhe.
Just hoping to see it was a MB prob and not the ram(cost money to mail it back to the lameasses that sent me it) and it doesn't seem to hopeful that it is bad ram from majority of the post here. but if it can use 128 DDR and SD and function i'm sure it's not the PS.

but the thing is, these boards are very power crazy..and 256 megs of ddr draws a lot more juice than 128 megs of sdr, and double that of 128megs ddr...
so that is probably why there is no problem with 128megs.
it can be your powersupply!
any of your friends have a different powersupply that you can try out?
because if the psu is not doing its job correctly, then it will cause many problems. and this sounds like one of them.

oh, and some psu makers put a p4 ready sticker on their psu becasue they have that extra 5v power lead...
that doesnt mean that they are going to be good...
i got lucky with my generic psu...
look on the sticker on the psu, and see if on the 3.3v line it is putting out at least 20amps.
i am pretty sure it is the 3.3v line that the processor needs to boot.

Ah yes it is 20A
20/35/17 for the 3 in order.
and I did try it on a 300w PS K7AMA as well and it gave a crazy ammount of beeping. I also tried a bare boot with just a video card and got the same nothing happening on screen reaction.

ok, reset the bios with the jumper.
what wattage is the psu?
and what do you mean you tried it on a "300w ps k7ama"?
isnt a k7ama a different motherboard?
if so, and you tried your psu on it, then there is something wrong with your powersupply.
if you tried a different powersupply on the k7s5a, then maybe it isnt the psu.
ok, what happens when you boot it with NOTHING in there other than the cpu ?

Tried reseting the bios a few times
psu is 350W
and I tried it on a 300W PSU with a K7AMA Motherboard
which also supports DDR(the 128 DDR worked on it fine the 256 DDR gave me a LOT of beeps)

boot with nothing other than the CPU gives not beeps or anything of the sort
if I have SD and DDR in the slots(just to test the beeps) it does nothing as well.

well, sd and ddr at the same time wont do anything i think...i dont think it will boot.
are you sure that the cpu is good?
inspect it for physical damage.
then try the cpu in another board.
and if the 256 ddr give beeps...sounds like something is wrong with the ddr.

CPU runs just fine with SDram in the MB and with 128 DDR
I also tried my 1.2 amd tbird in the MB and had the exact same probs with the 256 meg ddr, no post no nothing.
I so hope it's the ram, thanks for help btw.

is there anything wrong physically with the ddr slot?
oh..and is it only one stick of ddr that seems to be defective?
you said you had 128 in there, so i am assuming that you added another 128 stick to the setup...
like if you can run both sticks by themselves, then it is something else.
i hope it is the ram too...because ram is sometimes cheaper than a psu!

well the 128 stick I tried in the same slot worked fine.
and the 128 was for another persons system I was putting togheter(funny thing is the system that cost 1/2 as much as the one i'm having problems with worked flawlessly except for the LAN card and windows XP)

currently using a 128 SDram stick as the 256 DDR is causing all problems.
