Two real quick questions for you guys. I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but I have an MSI motherboard, and it has the option of having a logo appear on the POST bootup. Is there any way to change it with a custom image? I doubt it though. My next question is, I'm running an AMD Athlon XP 1500, I was wondering what the average running temperature and a "max" temperature would be? I know AMD's run hot, but how hot is safe I'm not sure of.

question 1.
sure you can change it...
but i would read up on it first.
here is a good place to read about it.<A HREF="http://www.virtual-hideout.net/guides/bios_logo_mods/index.shtml" target="_new">http://www.virtual-hideout.net/guides/bios_logo_mods/index.shtml</A>
i did this on two of the machines at my house.
havent done it on my current rig yet...
it is pretty easy, and makes your computer totally custom...hehe.
question2, if you are running hot, you would be seeing temps of about 60°C...
but you might have stablity problems before it gets that high.
i would say the average is about 45-51°C...
not sure how accurate of an average that is, but mine varys greatly...
like if the room is really cold, it will get to like 36°C.
but it usually is about 41°C.
but when it is fully loaded it will hit approximately 46°C
and if the room is REALLY warm, like if i have all the computers on, with their monitors, and the window is closed, or the air conditioner is off, then it MIGHT get to 49°C, or more...but i think the HIGHEST i ever saw was like 49°C...
but this is with an aftermarket heatsink...not a stock retail heatsink.
i think with a retail heatsink, you can see temps like 50...
which is ok, as long as it is not causing lockups...

OK, but what about a logo SCREEN? A lot of OEM computers cover the post screen with a company logo screen, including Intel motherboards, Unisys, Compaq, Dell, etc, usually with a message at the bottom "press TAB to see Post" or something to that affect. How can we mod our BIOS to make THAT logo screen?

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

While your at it, see if you can find any information for removing the actual "BIOS" from Dell BIOS update files, so I can manually force a flash using the forced flash jumper!

cant find the article i am thinking of....when i stumble across it, i will post it here...
oh, and are you talking about removing dell proprietary stuff from their bios?
hmm....couldnt you just get a bios that is for a board that is identical?
i mean, someone makes their boards....but i will look into it..
i want to say i saw the article at hardocp...but i cant find it there...

I want to replace a motherboard in a Dell with an identicle (except for the power connections) Intel motherboard, but Dell hides their BIOS in the flash program, which checks to see if Dell BIOS is already loaded.
