I have purchased fairly new laptop and can't seem to get past the administerators password. It is an HP Pavillion Entertainment PC. Can you please Help?

Do you mean you don't know the password? If so you will have to ask the person you got it from to tell it to you.

Hi newcomer and welcome to the Tom's hardware forum.

A new rig never comes with a password, just press enter and u can log in without problems. Now if u want set a password for the user go to My PC, right click, managed, users and local groups and users, select the user right click and set password.
