Messenger pop-up ads

I know this is a naive question.......
but is there a way, withing MSN Messenger 7,
to disable its own pop-up ads?

Even though this isn't the MSN Messenger forum:

It costs MSN money to run the servers (equipment, electricity, internet
access, staff salary & wages). The advertisers on messenger and the
advertisers at other msn sites advertised on messenger supply the funds
to meet these costs. MSN subscriber fees don't meet all of the service's
costs AND a lot of msn Messenger users are using free passport accounts.

So if you don't want to help MSN earn ad revenue, use another IM.

    Greetings William,

MSN Messenger does not have pop-up ads, it has ads in some of the windows (like the contact
list and conversation window) but at no time do they "pop up".

No popup adds in MSN Messenger 7.0. Don't know what you are seeing.

    Richard and Jonathan:
Things pop up, centered left to right, at bottom of my contact
list window, telling me how many people I can contact by clicking its
link. Number changes up and down steadily. If I can grab some to show, I
will, or maybe describe better. And I do underatnd that MSN Messenger
does have to cost its distributors..........

Can't grab it to show, but in two sign-ons, the first little window read
    MSN Messenger
Do you know your credit score (plus a few choices, like excellent, etcetera)

    and the next time,
    MSN Messenger
    What's more fun than love?
    Chat.

If you are speaking of the little 1x3 inch window at the bottom - that is
the price you pay for a free program. My concern is the little adder you
have in the top border line. MSN Messenger "is not" supposed to have that.
Either you installed an add-on or one was installed for you.

    1. The little adder that is in my top border line is the choice
of keyboard language. Periodically I need French, German, and
Hungarian. This is built into XP and belongs in a border.
    2. By implication, you've confirmed that MSN Messenger provides
that 1x3 window to various advertisers, and you're right, that
isn't too big a price to pay for a useful free program. On that
    basis, it is not objectionable.
    Thank you.
