Windows 8 upgrade

Hi
Right now im running Windows Release Preview and i wonder if i was to get a genuine key code and install windows xp over release preview could i pass to get the $40 upgrade?

Yeah but i looked at most of these websites and said you could but then i asked microsoft and they reckon you couldnt

That's what I'm planning to do, though if you upgrade from an XP installation Win 8 will do a clean install and wipe the XP from the drive. You could try creating a partition on your drive and installing XP there to satisfy the requirements for the upgrade, then point the Win 8 install to your C drive. I'm going to try that with XP on an HDD and install 8 to an SSD...

Well, whilst some people may not like Paul Thurrotts brand of journalism, he's not usually wrong about these things, and if the screenshots are anything to go by, he has at least tried it
