Hello, I have a problem with my Asus motherboard. It's an Asus A7V. I just downloaded the new BIOS from the ASUS webpage (bios ver. 1010) and flashed it to my motherboard. Everything went fine (as usual, cause I had done this many times before), and when the AFLASH asked me to reboot, I did it.
To my surprise, I now only see a black screen and all of my keyboard lights are on. What's this?? I also looked for a jumper to reset the bios settings to the defaults but I coudn't find it. Where is it? Could it be that this mobo doesn't has this jumper?

My specs:
Asus A7V rev 1.0
Athlon Thunderbird 800MHz
384 Mb Ram PC133
Sound Blaster Live! Value
Realtek 8029 PCI Net card
Leadtek TV2000

Everything used to work fine with Bios 1007, 1008 and 1009.

What should I do? Throw the mb away and buy a new one?

Thanx a lot.

Your board must have a cmos jumper. Check your manual. Unplug the power supply, and enable the cmos jumper (move it over one position) for 15 seconds, and return it to normal operating position. If that doesn't work, you may be able to order a new bios chip from asus. Also, some pc shops will flash your old bios chip for a small fee. Call around and see if you can locate any.

I was going to offer to reflash your BIOS chip for you, but then I saw where you live. Might be difficult with the slow snail mail?

Anyway, definitely try the other suggestion (clear CMOS jumper) Also, see page 57 of the manual where it tells you how to clear CMOS RTC. This may help. Lastly, you can remove the batter for a minute or two while powered off, to see if this helps. Good luck.

It's always the one thing you never suspected.
