I have XP and I have Messenger automatically - it is a nuisance and I will
never ever use it. How do I get rid of it? How do I get it off the toolbar?

Thank you!

I don't have an answer but would also like to know. I did try to delete it
once and got a message that if I removed it some programs might not work. I
would like to know if this is true, and which programs so I can decide
whether to delete or not.

Greetings WD,

You can just remove Windows Messenger again by closing down Messenger if it's running (right
click the messenger icon in the notification area/system tray and click close). Then click
the start button, then click Run and type in (copy-paste if you like):
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Then click OK.
Messenger will then be uninstalled. For more detailed instructions and screenshots, go to,
