ECS K7S5A USB Joystick Problems

I have an ECS K7S5A with an Athlon XP 1800, running Windows ME. I cannot get a Microsoft Sidewinder USB joystick to work with the board (it worked in the same system with my old Abit Athlon motherboard.

When the system boots up, the joystick appears in the joystick control panel. When I test it using the control panel, it locks up and does not work - it shows the joystick input frozen in one position. The buttons, however, do work.

I have the latest ECS BIOS, DirectX 8.1, and the latest Win ME software.

Any ideas about what may be wrong?

Thanks.

You went for a Cheap MOBO, like me, and got riped off. I hate the ECS k7s5a, I have it and I'm having constant trouble so only 6 months after buy'n mine, I HAVE to upgrade! I'd just be glad you aren't having more serious problems.

FYI, I gave up and bought an MSI KT333 Ultra motherboard. It is an absolutely outstanding motherboard - very high quality.
