It seems that on games like CoD2 and Doom3 that they play fine for the first 3 or 4 levels, but the further I get into it the video freezes up, and it happens more frequently as I progress until I quit and restart the game. Sounds like memory right. But here are the specs...

Athlon XP 3200
Asus A7N8x deluxe
5700 ultra 128mb video
1.5 gig of kingston RAM (3x512mb)

Please help! Very annoying.

sounds like overheating on the vid card or CPU, try it with the case side off with a fan blowing into the case.

otherwise im not sure.

I appreciate your response. I had thought of that but here is the thing, it isn't happening when I have played for a long time it starts to happen when I get further into the game (I usually am only able to play for a half an hour here and there). I just finished CoD2 on the second to hardest level. It would freeze up after about 5-10 minutes of play. It would last for about 5 seconds and then play would resume. But it would happen more quickly the next time and so on. But since I restarted the whole game (CoD2) on the hardest setting (veteran I think) I have gotten through 3 levels without a single freeze up. That is what happened on Doom3. I got so fed up with it that I never finished it. I am very perplexed on this one.

I had something like that with a new gateway pc i got way back

after playing 4 half/hour it would start lagging/slowing down to a craw but if i rebooted it would be fine again at least 4 30 min.

there was a link to the gateway site where i was able to download a patch and then it worked fine.

look 4 a patch or update drivers as much as possible
see if that helps
