How big a chip can this mobo take?

jlanka is correct... the A7M266 can run any of the current AMD processors, including the XPs. And yes, you must have BIOS 1005 on the board BEFORE installing the XP cpu.

I am running an 1800XP+ on my A7M266 right now.

But it depends on if it's a Dorito or a Lays (Intel or AMD)
