Asus P4B266 probs. Need help please.

I just put together a system using the Asus P4B266 motherboard. I am running Win 2000. Everything seems fine except for the sound. Once I installed the drivers that came with it, the OS would not boot up. I get to right before the desktop would appear and it would hang, there's a cursor on the blank destop, 2 beeps from the speakers, and no movement. I can only run with the audio disabled from the BIOS. On the Asus website they have different sound drivers for Win2K and WinXP. I'm trying to download the Win2K one, but the website is always unavailable. In the meantime, does anyone have any ideas? I also tried the "beta" drivers from C-media, but they didn't work either. Thanks for any help.

i would just use your computer without sound for the time being until you can d/l those drivers from the asus website...
if that doesnt work...then im stumped
