I dont have a dvd rom in my pc.

Focking embarrassing, I know.

But can you believe that CIV 4 is only out on DVD-ROM? That's bloody ludicrous.

I could get UT2004 Editor's Choise Edition on a 8 disc cd-rom collection but bloody CIV 4 is only dvd-rom available.

I bought a brand new top of the range LG Dvd-rom burner the other day but dont have the knowledge or guts to install it given the last time I tried to tinker with my pc my mobo blew up as did my vid card etc.

Not really... if you consider that 99% of people who might buy Civ IV would also have DVD players, and add up the cost of manufacturing the game on CD's as well as DVD's, multiplied by the fact that it'd probably take two or three CD's to burn onto vs the one DVD.

It's really not that hard to install the thing: turn off, unplug all external cables starting with the power, ground, unscrew case, unscrew old cd-rom, install new, plug/screw everything in with power last, turn on...

Come on.. the dvd PLAYER is standart now.. i would say DVD recorder is standart!
It is not very expencive, so any1 can buy it....
And the thing they dont sell games on CD is that would cost more!
1 DVD in poland cost about.. 0,25$... 1CD costs the same!
When u will have to buy about 1 million DVD's or 4 million CD's to record the game on it, the cost of CD version would be bigger, ke?

and they dont want to pay for cd's if they can make u will buy new Dvd player/recorder :)...
its the way how it works.
