Hi all,

5.1 sound is not working in CS: Source. I've downloaded a load of latest drivers for mobo etc to try and fix another problem, and now I've lost the 5.1 sound in CS. (AC97 on board 7.1 with MSI Nforce 3 mobo).

The 5.1 setup in windows works fine, so its not the speakers or the cables. Anyone know which drivers I need to install or if there are some codecs required for CS or anything?>!?!!

It might be that the 5.1 setting in the game is in a format that your motherboard sound can not produce like DTS or EAX or something of that sort. I have noticed this problem with onboard sound and HL2.

Have you tried the sound configuration option in CS:S? It had to configure my XFI platinum with 5.1 so it may need to configure yours. Just go to sound options in the game and test speaker settings and fool around with it.
