So which chipset should buy, Sis 654 wih really good results but okay overclocking, 845 with very good results and awesome overclocking, or 850 good results high bandwith ram and good overclocking no raid though.
Here is my conflict, ABIT BD7R(i845), SOYO SY-P4S Dragon Ultra(sis 645) and MSI MS-6523(850) with P4 1.6A cpu and ata133 80GB HD. Which MOBO should I buy, I apperciate any ideas , have to order something today ...

thanks..

With the advent of the Sis645 becoming more mainstream, there is less of a usage for the i850. A solution for the i845 would be the (questionable legality) P4X266a. Best of all, you might as well get a Soyo Dragon Ultra, with some PC-2700 DDR. If you plan on overclocking, it will give you more leeway than the RDRAM mobo. Sis 645 is a good chipset and a great performer.

I would go with ABIT BD7R(i845). I think the only reason to get an Intel CPU is becasuse Intel's chipset have less compitability problems. If you are welling to use chipset from other manufacturer than AMD offers better value.

actualy i don't have the cpu yet, but you overclock the P4 1.6a to 2.4 isn't a better performence/value .? with the 533(4x) fsb ?
Abit is also my choice BTW, thx..

Dude, when you compare the features and benefits of Sis 645 to i845, the i845 looks like crap. Seriously, you would be better off using the DDR-333 and have it for future PIVs as well if you plan on upgrading it. Compatability problems? Try Via. Sis has a winner here, obviously betterthan the i845. Do you mean the i845d? Ok, if you aren't then you are reccomending him SDRAM. That is about as useful as using DDR-400 with CL4...I mean come on here =/

Well, it is better value if you aren't afraid to overclock aggresively. I wouldn't get the i850 or i845d, go for the Sis645 for oc'ing. If you get a good board (A-bit is good for this), you may be able to get the RDRAM up to 533 with a 133Mhz FSB. Hard to get to stably, but works well. So, the choice is either i850 or Sis 645 really. Yes, Soyo makes good oc'ing boards, but for this, I would go with A-bit instead.

of course i mean the 845D i wouldn't go near the Sd 845, hmm the abit you mean the Abit SD7-533 with 645 right, it didn't do really good compare to other 645 chipset mobos, ( the latest test) and it doesn't have ata 133 still you think i should go with abit? SOYO does have raid but how about overclocking the FSB with it ? and asus goes up to 166fsb .. what do you think?

Yeah, Abit SD7 seems to be the way to go for Sis 645 and DDR-333. Soyo isn't as Oc friendly as Abit in my experiences. I would stick with Abit for oc'ng, Soyo for features support. Asus good for oc'ing as well. Really, it's your choice here. Plenty of good candidates. I myself would probably venture the Abit, Asus, or even Gigabyte under some circumstances for Oc'ing.

here is what i have decided so far gotta order today , SOYO P4S DRAGON Ultra, 512 ocz PC3000 cas2.0 DDR, P41.6A , what do you guys think , asumin it will go up to 2.4 GHz.
If you think RAID over FSB than Asus is a better choice than Abit i guess, with sis645 that is..
