Myst V has just hit the shelves in my area so there may not be many
playing it yet. I bought it without carefully reading the "Supported OS"
listing and was pissed when I saw my Win98SE was not supported. Not only
that but 512Meg memory was recommended and I have 256Meg. Hmmm, do I
return the game or buy WinXP ?!
But wait a minute! I installed the game anyway just to see what would
happen and it seems to run quite well. Perhaps it is too soon to tell,
but I'm through the introduction and have met Yeesha and another
character. There was just a hint of hesitation to the videos and the
panning with my USB mouse could be a trifle smoother.
So, anyone else running this game under Win98SE? Anyone have comments on
just what the minimum requirements are in actuality, rather than as
stated on the package?
Your mileage may vary with a different system. Mine is an Asus A7V8X-X
motherboard with Athlon XP2500+ cpu and 256Meg memory, nVidia Ti-4200
AGP8X - 64Meg memory - nVidia 77.72 driver, Creative Audigy2 with vxd
drivers, and DirectX 9.0c. This is a good but not current or great
gaming system, well suited for adventure games.
